Intimacy Atlas

My thesis is a work of creative nonfiction entitled intimacy atlas. This work is an exploration of the author’s family history and associated memories and traumas, created with the intent of guiding the reader and the author through processing and healing that pain and grief. The work is about 135 pages in length, and includes a variety of writing styles as well as images and basic illustrations. The writing styles include hybrid forms, such as lyric essays, as well as more traditional prose and free verse poetry, and stream of consciousness pieces. The images included are of the author’s past and family, and the photographs are accompanied by map-like illustrations of selected lines from the structure of the photograph. The writings cover subject matter like addiction, verbal abuse, death and medical trauma, and the difficulties of adjusting to adulthood after childhood trauma.
